There're various reasons why this may happen, the two most common are: using really weak passwords or using outdated scripts with widely known vulnerabilities. In this way, a single compromised site will do lots of damage to all your websites, as getting access to a single script normally allows hackers to access the entire hosting account. This is the reason why we've created a brand new security option called JailHost. Once enabled, this option will literally lock a website in its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, the remaining sites in the account will be hidden. Thus they'll be resistant to further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't suggest that you should not keep your Internet sites up-to-date, but it will significantly limit the damage.

JailHost in Hosting

In case you host your sites inside a hosting account from our company, you'll be able to protect them by using the JailHost feature with just a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This option is available with all plans and can be activated for any folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have separate folders, so that files for various websites never get mixed up as it often happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default because you could use scripts which require access to folders outside the primary site folder and this option could interfere with their correct operation, but protecting all other folders is simple and easy. If any secured site gets hacked for whatever reason, we'll be able to recover it without delay as we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to view the available backups from Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Hosting

JailHost is available with all of our semi-dedicated hosting packages, so if you host a couple of websites, you can easily isolate them from one another so as to keep them safe. The option must be activated for each and every website and is not active by default, to avoid interference with scripts which need access to multiple folders inside the account. Enabling it for all other websites will take no more than a few mouse clicks inside the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel. Unlike other Control Panels, Hepsia doesn't place different websites under the main domain folder. Instead, every single domain or subdomain has its very own folder, that makes it much easier to manage and secure all of your websites. In case that a site within your account is hacked, not only will your other sites remain untouched, but we will also be able to restore the affected website very quickly as we will have multiple backups of your entire content.
